Rachel Kent, judge of the Bold Horizons National Contemporary Art Awards, speaking about her selection process. I was so thrilled by what she had to say about the place of craft in contemporary art, that I didn't mind not winning.
I actually got to look at the exhibition yesterday Meliors. Your Ross Island looked such a precious treasure. It was my favourite..not just because I have followed the journey of your art here on your blog. I love that it is made from a familiar looking NZ blanket and your blood sweat and tears are an intrinsic part of it. Well done. Now I will listen to the judge.
